Let me feel the impact when I hit the ground...

Preston-based Mark Whiteside (Evil Blizzard) last night crossed the border to perform at the historic Hebden Bridge Trades Club with his side project One Sided Horse. Having previously played low-key acousitc sessions and solo house gigs, this full band debut was quite the departure from One Sided Horse's usual stripped back sound. Joined on stage by Embrace's Richard McNamara, Steve Firth, Mike Heaton and Mickey Dale (with whom Mark has recently recorded the debut OSH album) Mark's delicate and beautiful songs were transformed into something full and rich and unbelievably powerful. From the glorious Crackerjack to the funky Hit the Ground, the entire set was one little treasure after another.

And while the gig itself made for a pretty perfect night for me, it was made all the more special by the fact my artwork featured on its posters, t-shirts and - unbelievably - Mike Heaton's bass drum. It was such a surreal thing to look around and see people wearing t-shirts I'd designed and to have a drummer I've admired for years using a kit featuring my artwork. There really just isn't the words for that at all.

With many thanks to One Sided Horse and Code Drum Heads.
